Progressive Watchdog Group Media Matters Faces Legal Battle with Elon Musk's X

Elon Musk's social media site X has sued progressive media watchdog group Media Matters over its analysis highlighting antisemitic and pro-Nazi content on the platform. Media Matters published a report last week showing instances where major brand advertisements appeared next to extremist posts on X, which may have played a role in several major advertisers later pausing their ads on the site. In the lawsuit, X accuses Media Matters of distorting how likely it is for ads to appear beside extremist content, and says the group's testing methodology does not reflect a typical user's experience on the platform. Media Matters president vowed to defend the group against the suit, calling it a "frivolous lawsuit meant to bully X's critics into silence."
